Painting and decorating

Eamon McQuillan
Belfast, Antrim
2024.07 - Current

I have worked with my great uncle during the Summer holidays since 2024 to present, assisting him in his job as a painter and decorator for both domestic and commercial painting work.

Through this work experience I have helped him to achieve consistent client satisfaction by delivering high quality and efficient services.

He has taught me various painting techniques and how to set up and ensure a good finish for a job.

My assistance enables him to streamline his workflow processes by providing support to him during jobs and ensuring the correct tools are available as and when he needs them, including helping set up for jobs and clean up once work is complete. Examples of where I have assisted with set up are when I have prepared surfaces prior to painting using hand scrapers, wire brushes and tape.

He has taught me the importance of health and safety on site and in dealing with equipment, example ladders, scaffolding and ensuring appropriate ventilation. Having a methodical approach to health and safety ensures that accidents are avoided.

I am careful with attention to detail as I know that this will effect the overall result of the work and customer satisfaction. This includes handling minor repairs on surfaces to ensure these are level and smooth before painting.

I've built good relationships with customers and their families, offering a friendly service at all times.

I am always early or on time to work to ensure that I don't negatively impact on the workplan for the day and on efficiency of the service provided.
