11.2022 - Current
  • As the G7 Head of Briefing, I was assigned the demanding, high-profile task of rapidly creating an energy security briefing hub from scratch during the cessation of Russian gas supplies to Europe
  • This cross-cutting role was at the intersection of ministerial and media attention
  • My responsibilities included nurturing a positive team culture, developing new processes, and fostering relationships with colleagues across various directorates, Private Office, and Communications Department
  • These efforts aimed to integrate our team into the broader organization and keep us updated on national and global developments
  • Within three months, the briefing hub gained a reputation for excellence, and my team achieved the highest response rate for correspondences and Parliamentary Questions across all of BEIS
  • Consequently, I was nominated to share best practices with 200 colleagues at the single briefing network and to support the transformation of another briefing team in a different directorate.

Senior Policy Advisor

Local Outbreak and Response (UKHSA)
10.2021 - Current
  • I was tasked with communicating the new COVID Strategy to Local Authority partners
  • The strategy involved reduced financial support, a topic sensitive due to historical issues with centralised decision-making in the UK
  • My goal was to build trust, simplify complex issues, co-produce alternative solutions, and persuade stakeholders to adopt the new strategy, despite diminished financial backing
  • I also briefed the UKHSA Chief Executive on the sensitivities involved and drafted correspondences to accompany the strategy's publication
  • To create a shared understanding of risk between local and national government, I commissioned new analysis that clarified the reasoning behind UKHSA's low-risk assessment
  • When stakeholders expressed concerns, I drafted a business case for carrying over 10% of the existing funding (100 million) into the next fiscal year
  • This case was co-produced with stakeholders, and the Secretary of State approved my recommendations, which local partners appreciated
  • I successfully communicated and influenced the adoption of the new strategy
  • As a result, I received the maximum UKHSA In-Year Directorate award, and my team won the Civil Service Policy delivery award.
