Currently I hold the role of Security Officer at Manchester Airport. My responsibilities include patrolling the terminals, conducting hand searches of cabin luggage and passengers, body searches of passengers, checking staff ID cards and passenger boarding cards before they enter the security area. Also, I operate the high tech security equipment of X ray machines 2D / 3D and body scanners and deal with any security situation that may arise such as unattended bags. For this role I am pro-active in dealing with situations to ensure upmost security at all time. I have excellent attention to detail and am very focused when conducting my responsibilities. Clear communication with passengers and colleagues is very important as is my ability to show exceptional customer service. I am able to multi-task to be competent in this role and work well individually and in a team to provide the best service at the airport.
I am an all-round team member at Airsoft. Firstly, I am involved in the upkeep and development of the site. This involves heavy lifting of the materials to the second floor where the business is located. From there I help maintain and build new structures for the customers to use whilst playing their Airsoft games. In the evenings and weekends my role is to help marshall the site, this involves setting up the game modes for the customers, making sure everyone is safe and abides by the game rules while having an amazing time. In between the Airsoft games, I served customers, so I had to learn how to use the till point. Finally, after the games I am part of the team who thoroughly cleans all the areas of the site ready for the next day of business. This shows I can work well on my own, I use my initiative in the building and marshalling roles and working as part of a team and using customer service skills when marshalling and serving. Also, problem solving skills to help any sort of issues or disagreements that may arise from the games the customers are playing
My roles were split from being in the stock room to areas on the shop floor. I gained some experience in stock management and whilst I spent time on the shop floor, I also learnt the skills required to serves customers as well. I gained knowledge of the importance of presentation and customer service skills. I enjoyed working in a team environment to give customers a pleasant, relaxing experience whilst promoting the store business. The role helped me become more confident in interacting with customers and team members alike. I was a trusted member of staff as I had the responsibility of closing the shop of an evening, making sure business was finished and the shop was clean and tidy ready for the next working day.
For two years, until the pandemic, I worked as a merchandiser for Dawson Media Direct at Manchester Airport. My role involved working nights distributing and collecting newspapers within the terminals. I had to have a good level of fitness and physical strength and knowledge of manual handling to carry out this role. Also because of the security nature of the environment, airside at the airport, I am very trustworthy and honest and can follow set procedures effectively. I worked as part of a set team and occasionally would have to work with different members of another team, in some instances I had to take on a leadership role during my shift to make sure the work was completed correctly and on time as we always worked to a tight deadline. I have developed organizational and time management skills, customer service skills and communication skills which were also important as I was often asked questions from the general public which I would answer professionally and helpfully but also aware that I had a time schedule to keep to.
