I was privileged to study humans' emotions, psychological well-being, social well-being, and physical health. In addition, I learned that we all learn new things differently. As a result, I determined to be mindful of how I interact with people I meet for the first time. I don't take offence when expectations aren't met; rather, I take my time to see beyond the unspoken words. These have helped me avoid preventable incidents throughout my career. Instead of being judgmental, I ask, listen, and do.
I have worked in some fast-paced environments rendering comprehensive care to service users through effective workload management. In my approach to caring for patients, I have discovered two powerful ways to fully gain patients'/service users' trust; compassionate care and patience.
I spend adequate time with patients/service users actively and passively listening to them, they freely express themselves raising concerns that I address promptly. I support them holistically including their relatives. I offer compassionate care which relieves them from the fear of the future, makes them gain confidence and removes any societal stigma.
I provided physical assistance as needed, including mobility support and help with personal hygiene tasks, and offered emotional support to the patient, fostering a safe environment. I used effective communication techniques to better understand patients' feelings and concerns.
