I am an accomplished lifeguard with experience in pool and leisure centre environments, as well as customer-facing and team situations. Since I am in college, I offer flexible hours to meet team goals. Currently I am studying sports science and therapy level 3, where I am aiming for distinctions in anatomy, psychology, biomechanics, research methods and sports massage.
This job has taught me organisational and communication skills, while giving me an insight into the fitness industry. It has shown me that effective coordination during peak hours is essential to make sure everything runs smoothly. I have provided first aid for minor injuries, and ensures the safety of swimmers. I have worked flexible shifts including holidays and weekends. I love talking to swimmers and building a good reputation. Overall, so far it has improved my confidence, discipline and decision making, which are very useful in all forms of work.
I completed a week of work experience during year 10, which gave me a great insight into sales and marketing. It showed me how to balance multiple tasks while maintaining high quality, and enhanced my organisational skills and communication when meeting new people. I did lots of shadowing, which helped me understand how people in a workplace coordinate and work together, to ensure efficiency and quality.
