I joined Unicorn Vets in August 2018, I have undertaken roles in the workplace as a Veterinary Care Assistant, a Student Veterinary and my current role as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.
I qualified in July 2025, and joined the RCVS register in August 2025 after completing my VetSkill VTEC Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (Companion Animal)
- Assisting the Veterinary Surgeon in daily surgeries, including monitoring anaesthesia, and performing peri-operative and post-operative care to patients.
- Providing in-patient care to a high standard and carrying out tasks such as assisted feeding, physical therapy and wound management.
- Administering medications and treatments to patients as prescribed by the Veterinary Surgeon.
- Interpreting veterinary prescriptions and maintaining veterinary medicine records.
- Conducting laboratory tests such as running bloods, urine analysis and other diagnostic procedures such as radiology.
- Carrying out nursing clinics and educating clients on animal health and welfare, including preventative healthcare, post-operative checks, monthly treatments such as Librela/Solensia injections.
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in practice, creating an safe environment for staff and patients, and minimising risk of infection.
- Responding to medical emergencies in a calm and professional manner and working under pressure in these situations.
- Assisting with end of life care and handling situations in an empathetic manner.
- Carrying out reception duties and and managing stock.
