Skills summary

  • Team work, I have played, and still play football since I was 4 years old this has helped me develop my communication skills as good communication is needed on the pitch. The Little Haven Hotel has helped develop this by working with different people on my shift and by speaking to and helping an array of customers. From regulars who I have developed relationships with and know their orders to new customers, I have learnt to manage expectations and provide a high level service so they get the best experience possible.
  • Time management, I have always had good time management, I do not like being late and always aim to attend work at least 10 minutes before my shift starts so I am on the floor ready to start.
  • Composure, During busy stressful services I have learnt to stay focused and composed so the customers get the best service and do not have long to wait. I have learnt how to deal with unhappy customers who are complaining and can be quite rude in a professional manner and try to resolve a complaint without having to get a senior member of staff.
  • Order taking, I have had to learn to write clearly and concisely so that the chefs and other members of the team understand what the order is and the customer gets their order in a timely manner.
