A skilled professional with excellent communication skills, problem solving, and crisis intervention experience. Previous roles can demonstrate organisational and time management abilities, alongside objective analysis of information. Resilience in challenging situations and adept at working independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The years spent away from social care due to caring responsibilities have enabled the opportunity to gain skills and experience and a greater knowledge of children's services which will support a return to a social work setting.
My daughter was born in 2015 with an undiagnosable genetic condition which included a number of disabilities. She experienced ill health and spent lengthy periods in hospital. I made the decision to take a career break to enable me to support my daughters needs. Due to my daughters conditions I have engaged with professionals regarding her health needs, EHCP and multiple of additional needs.
I very much enjoyed my social work career and was a competent and capable worker. I made the difficult decision to let my registration lapse and concentrate on my daughters needs. She has made great progress in recent years and I am very motivated to return to a social care setting and use my previous experience and qualifications to move forward in my career.
Whilst completing an M.A in social work I undertook a number of agency social care roles which gave me extensive experience in numerous settings. I experienced working with looked after children, residential settings for children and young people with challenging behavior, residential setting for children and young people with learning disabilities and physical health needs and residential settings for adults with mental health illnesses. I thoroughly enjoyed gaining experience with different service user groups and it enabled me to develop competent communication skills with children/adults with varying communication needs and to form positive working relationships. I found this invaluable when commencing my social work career.
