I was part of the scouting community for around 12 years. Within this i was awarded the Chief Scout Gold Award. This required me to complete numerous tasks within the community, including community service, outdoor skills and technical knowledge.
I also received both my bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh awards. This included 6 months of volunteering at a local PDSA charity shop, engagement in activities, and a multi-day hiking trip.
Both of these things really tested my resilience and teamwork skills. It also highlighted to me the importance of working to support my local community and the people within it.
