Numerical Study about the response of Cable Stayed Bridges under the sudden breakage of two Stay Cables, Research Project, University of East London. Research Project to study the response of cable stayed bridges under the sudden breakage of two stay cables by simulating the breakage of cables as a dynamic event. Both dynamic analysis and static analysis carried out and results obtained from those two analyses used to calculate the dynamic amplification factor (DAF). DAF either related to deflections, shear forces or bending moments were calculated and their inter-relationship is discussed. The appearance of DAF greater than two is confirmed both in bridge deck and bridge pylon. The accuracy of multiplying the static responses by a maximum DAF of two to account for dynamic responses, as advised in design codes, is discussed and the need of further research on applicability of maximum DAF of two is persuaded.
