I am a second-year Psychology and Counselling undergraduate at Birmingham City University and currently work part-time as a Food and Beverage Assistant at David Lloyd Clubs. Through both my academic studies and employment experience, I have developed strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, alongside a genuine passion for supporting the well being of others.
I am particularly interested in pursuing a career within the mental health sector and I am seeking work experience or placement opportunities that will allow me to apply my knowledge in a practical setting while further developing my professional skills. My studies have provided me with a solid foundation in psychological theory and counselling principles, including active listening, empathy, ethical practice, confidentiality, and a holistic approach to understanding individuals and their experiences.
Throughout my degree, I have strengthened my research, critical thinking, and communication skills, enabling me to engage effectively with a range of perspectives and evidence-based approaches. In addition, my customer-facing role has enhanced my ability to build rapport, work collaboratively within a team, remain organised under pressure, and communicate confidently with people from diverse backgrounds.
I am a reflective and self-aware individual who values personal and professional growth. I am committed to continually developing my understanding of mental health and supporting others in a compassionate, respectful, and ethical manner. I am eager to contribute positively to a professional team while gaining valuable experience that will support my future career aspirations within psychology and mental health services.
