Dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) with progressive career history in direct patient care, triage and care coordination in fast-paced environment. Proven to remain calm under pressure and skillfully handle difficult patients and high-stress situations. Consistently developing strong relationships with patients and families through empathetic communication, respectful attitude and excellent customer service. I am currently working on the Respiratory Assessment Unit at Nottingham University Hospital. I am particularly interested in enhancing my professional development. Positively I possess majority of the skills and qualities you require within the job specification. I feel that from working on RAU I have a sound knowledge of respiratory conditions. Moreover, it is important to recognise the experience gained in the acute deterioration of patients and the appropriate management that is put in place to provide optimum treatment. As the patients who are admitted to RAU are often unstable fundamental patient assessment skills have been advanced upon allowing my critical thinking and decision-making skills to strengthen. I feel this experience is invaluable when taking charge of a ward to assist and support junior members of the team. The unpredictability of caring for acutely ill respiratory patients has given me the ability to prioritise and plan patient care effectively, it is important to recognise that priorities in patient care can change rapidly enabling me to re-assess a situation and respond accordingly. I have had the opportunity to take charge on RAU. I have worked throughout COVID-19 pandemic caring for acutely unwell patients and their ever changing needs. From this a sound understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a band 6 have been learnt. I feel confident in my ability to prioritise and time manages especially during busy periods. Working on RAU has given me the chance to work as part of a medical team who assist patients facing traumatic breathing problems and/or a sudden serious illness, working within this environment reiterated the importance of working collaboratively with other health professionals and how utilising knowledge, skills and best practices from multiple disciplines impacts positively in providing holistic care. Furthermore, I have completed my Mentorship course at the University of Nottingham. Mentoring student Nurse’s in practice is something I am extremely enthusiastic about, aiding them to become competent practitioners through support and guidance is a rewarding experience. I enjoy working as part of a team and value the importance of being an effective team worker. The feedback I have received from my colleagues has confirmed this. I feel I will be an attribute any team of which I am assigned to, as I am a caring and compassionate individual who is able to empathise with people’s needs accordingly. It is important for me to further develop my clinical skills and enhance my professional career development. Thank you for your time in considering my application and I hope to hear from you in due course.
I enjoy travelling with my son and family.
