Work history

Trust Grade Doctor

Royal Liverpool Hospital
Liverpool
10.2023 - Current

  • I started as an FY2 doctor and worked for 6 months and then got promoted to Trust Grade Doctor (ST1/ST2) . This comes with further responsibilities for more acute ill patients
  • Due to my heavy background in A&E back in Nepal it was fairly easy for me to get into this role and work in this very busy department
  • My job includes taking history, diagnosis and coming up with a management plan for anyone and everyone who walks through the A&E doors
  • I am involved in teaching medical students, ANPs and PAs in the department in regular basis. Apart from this I am also involved with wilderness medicine and take part in training programs with medical students who are interested in pre-hospital medicine
  • Due to the busy nature of the department apart from the needed clinical skills, I am involved in collecting bloods, chasing reports, liaising with other departments, getting letter done for the GPs and many more.

Clinical Observer

Countess of Chester Hospital
Chester, Cheshire
11.2022 - 05.2023
  • Shadowed the consultant every day and observed how a surgical department works in the NHS and how different cases are assessed.
  • Shadowed the on-call Junior doctors to see what junior doctor does on a daily basis. Learned how the computer system works in the hospital and how vital is to document everything.
  • Involved in the MDT meetings every week and learned how the discussions at the meeting work towards a better treatment plan for the patients.
  • Scrubbed in and observed surgeries being performed by the surgeons and learned a variety of new techniques.

A&E Medical Officer

B&B Hospital
Kathmandu, Nepal
02.2020 - 03.2022
  • Assessed and examined patients to effectively triage and plan treatments.
  • Working here made me a better critical thinker due to it being one of the busiest trauma centers in the city.
  • Performed various emergency procedures accurately and efficiently to maintain smooth running of the busy A&E department.

Medical Officer (Part Time)

Chirayu National Hospital
Kathmandu, Nepal
02.2020 - 08.2020
  • Worked here as a locum doctor doing one or two shifts a week during the peak of the first wave of Covid as this hospital lost its workforce to the pandemic.
  • I was responsible for all the patients admitted to the medical and surgical wards. Keeping the records and following the management plan set by the consultant and managing any emergencies were my core duties during my shifts.

Medical Intern

First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yatsen University
Guangzhou, China
05.2018 - 05.2019
  • Rotated to every department and learned and got involved in everything the hospital had to offer to its medical students
  • The most important thing I learned during the internship was the importance of teamwork and how different departments work together for the betterment of patient care.
