I am a 25-year-old conscientious and hard-working professional seeking to branch out into a managerial role in the bike industry. My journey in the cycle trade started in my shed repairing bikes of friends, neighbours, and local people from the village to get further experience of different types of bikes from vintage, new and knackered, this varied from changing tubes and setting up tubeless to bleeding brakes and completely stripping down their bike.
I then moved on to Allied Cycles in Hertfordshire working in as a bike mechanics assistant.
I was then was employed by The Electric Bike Shop in Essex as senior bike technician in which I mainly worked in the workshop repairing and doing diagnostics on the E bikes that were sold in the shop but I was also heavily involved in working on the shop floor selling e bikes to customers.
I then moved to the recently opened store in Battersea with The Electric Bike Shop as a Workshop Manager, i ran the workshop to a very high standard and have proven myself in this role by consistently bringing in around 5-6k per month in parts and labour, which is not something that had been done in the company before. In the store i controlled the outlook diary and continually contacted customers with updates and costs for their service and to drive new bike sales in the store.
I was then promoted to acting manager, in which I run a store of two staff members; a sales assistant and a mechanic. My role requires me to use citrus lime as our point of sale (POS) system, I create and complete weekly bike stock takes accurately, running cloud reports to stay up to date with the financial status of the store, using reports to check what bikes are in stock ready to go out to the customer, and which bikes are pending delivery to the store to go out to customers.
I am running the store in every aspect through completing stock takes, ensuring the right bikes are ordered into the store to cater to our customer demographic, also ordering parts and accessories for shop stock and for workshop jobs.
Bikes have been a life long passion of mine, from both a mechanical and riding point of view. I have always ridden mountain bikes and got into trials riding around age ten, which is still a strong passion of mine.
As a result of my hobbies, I became interested in the mechanical side of bikes and enjoyed experimenting on my own; learning how bike mechanics worked, from taking apart my own bike and rebuilding with new parts to alter performance and aesthetics. Through this, I quickly learned that I am a very hands-on and technically minded individual who is capable of problem solving and working out how things work a certain way, and through trial and error, why they may not work, which I feel has benefited me in my career within the bike industry. I am dedicated to making this my long term career and am always looking to further my knowledge to make me a more valuable asset.
