Summary

I am a qualified secondary teacher (QTS) with nearly two years’ experience teaching English in a UK comprehensive secondary school and a total of three years’ experience working within the UK education system. Alongside this, I bring over twelve years’ international experience as an EAL teacher, primarily in China, working with learners from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.   • The enhanced cover supervisor role is divided into two key roles. Firstly to deal with any unplanned absences for the day, arranging cover for teachers who are unable to come to work, then input the absences into SIMS enabling cover teachers to access class charts and records. I am also responsible for ensuring all cover teachers have the correct registers and cover material for the day, this means communication between departments and heads of learning is critical.
  • I am also employed as a cover teacher, I am teaching students to GCSE level on a wide range of subjects however for the last 2 months I have taken on long-term cover for 1 year 7 English class, Values and Ethics, and GCSE business. Classroom management is key in these classes as is the ability to communicate the lesson objectives to the class.
  • I have also taken on long-term cover and pastoral responsibilities. I have taken on long term cover for one teacher out for several months, I am responsible for teaching not only her class subjects but also taking on her tutor group. This has allowed me to get to know the students better and be more involved in the lives of the students and the values the school is trying to instil.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

I am a keen sports fan and like to participate a range of different sports including football, rugby, running and swimming. I am currently part of a local football team and help out with team meetings and training sessions. I love swimming, particularly distance and open water swimming and have previously coached as a volunteer. I also enjoy winter swimming, preparing both mental and physical aspects of dealing with cold water training.
