Operational Management:

• Lead end-to-end daily operations and multi-disciplinary coordination across the Biomedical Science laboratories, consistently delivering uninterrupted practical sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students, aligned with teaching timetables and learning outcomes.

Academic Liaison:

• Act as primary technical consultant for academic staff, turning high-level curriculum specifications into optimised, cost-effective and inclusive practical sessions which meet all teaching goals and enhance student engagement.

Compliance, Health & Safety:

• Conduct routine Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) on all equipment in the laboratories.
• Serve as designated First Aider in the department.
• Create, review and enforce full COSHH documents and project-specific risk assessments; maintain full compliance with the institutional Health & Safety policies and UK lab standards.

Student Support & Technical Mentorship:

• Supervise and train undergraduate and postgraduate students in advanced techniques and use of equipment within the laboratories, with specialist oversight in mammalian tissue culture, PCR and complex microbiology workflows.
• Enforce rigorous aseptic technique and quality standards across all practical sessions.

Procurement & Budget Management:

• Carry out end-to end procurement: ordering, receipt verification and audit of high-volume consumables, reagents and specialist materials.
• Implement supply chain tracking to minimise waste, optimise stock levels and maximise budget efficiency.

Team and Workflow Improvement:

• Build professional relationships with students to enhance their practical learning experience and address technical needs.
• Partner with technical team to identify bottlenecks, refine process and improve lab throughput and safety.

Stand-Out Key Achievement:

• Selected for permanent hire by Leeds Beckett University's technical team during my final semester of my MSc. Progressed directing into to full-time employment immediately after my final examination, in recognition of consistent technical excellence, operational reliability, and strong collaborative performance.

Product Verification & Validation:

• Co-led the critical verification phase of a novel meningitis diagnostic test kit ahead of commercial launch, working in full alignment with In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) regulatory standards.
• Working in a Category 2 & 3 laboratories as directly working with meningitis and other pathogens to obtain data.

Protocol Execution & Data Analysis:

• Delivered testing protocols, created complex Excel spreadsheets for calculations to be carried out, maintained precise data logs, analysed data obtained by all team members and presented data to seniors.

Quality & Compliance:

• Operated fully within QIAGENS Quality Management System (QMS), with full traceability of all documentation and sample handling to meet international compliance standards.

Personnel Training & Onboarding:

• Supervised and trained laboratory technicians in PCR department in a high-throughput laboratory.
• And assisted in viral strain identification and variant tracking in the reflex assay department.
• One of few selected to participate in a Kaizen training programme carried out by the company to identify bottlenecks and help improve workflow and increase patient result turnover time.
