Strategic and values-driven educational leader with 25 years’ experience across Key Stages 1–3, GCSE, IGCSE, A Level, AP and IB programmes. I have held senior leadership roles in both the United States and the UK, including serving as Head of High School in Chicago, where I supported students in securing places at leading US and global universities, including Ivy League institutions. Since 2021, I have been part of the senior leadership team at a Gloucestershire prep school, driving whole-school improvement, strengthening academic and pastoral provision, and working closely with international and military families.
I have a strong track record in programme leadership, student recruitment and retention, accreditation processes, and building effective partnerships with parents and external stakeholders. Holding an Executive Master’s in International Education from King’s College London, I am committed to high standards, collaborative leadership, and developing staff through purposeful professional learning. My approach is proactive, organised and relational, with a clear focus on student success from admission through to graduation.
As Deputy Head Academic and a member of the College Leadership Team, I am responsible for the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning in the Prep School, line-managing 10 department heads to ensure excellence in curriculum delivery and pupil progress. In our boarding school context, I work closely with the admissions team and build strong relationships with international and military families, supporting recruitment, transition and ongoing engagement. I lead staff professional development, having designed a programme aligned with our strategic priorities and focused on sustained professional growth. Under my leadership, we have strengthened curriculum development and secured full global membership of the Round Square network, connecting with over 250 schools worldwide to enrich learning and prepare our pupils to be confident, outward-looking global citizens.
In this role, I led 12 department heads and academic coordinators, along with four pastoral leaders, to deliver high-quality learning for 200 High School students. I worked closely with the Director of College Counseling to support each student's aspirations and further education pathways. Our graduating class of 2021 achieved the highest IBDP results in the region. Prior to this, I served as Assistant Head (Through-School), overseeing academic development from Nursery to IB level, with a focus on building the academic, interpersonal, and intercultural skills needed for success in higher education and beyond.
I joined The British School of Chicago in August 2006 to design and deliver a Geography and History programme tailored to the needs of a growing student body. I taught the school’s first GCSE Geography cohort, with all students achieving A or A* grades, and gained experience with the AP programme through teaching AP U.S. History. I also contributed to the school’s successful accreditation as an IB World School and taught several IGCSE and IB Geography classes.
From 2010 to April 2013, I served as Head of Humanities, where I led the development and implementation of a spiral curriculum model. In April 2013, I was appointed to the Senior Leadership Team, with primary responsibility for academic provision through the school.
Kingsbury High is a large comprehensive school with an enrolment of over 2000. After joining Kingsbury as an NQT in August 2002, I was appointed Key Stage 3 Geography leader in 2004 with responsibility for the progression of 800 Geography students, taught by seven teachers. It was in this position that I first experienced the opportunities and challenges brought through middle leadership. I managed a budget and contributed towards the process of teacher recruitment. I set myself ambitious personal goals, including the introduction of peer observations within the department.
