Work Experience - 31st March 2025 / 4th April 2025

For my Year 10 Work Experience, I spent 5 days as a volunteer classroom assistant at John T Rice. Over the 5 days, I spent my time helping the teachers and children with

Routine support - helping to make sure that the classroom was tidy and encouraging the children to complete daily tasks such as spellings.

Observing and learning - Whilst supporting the children, i also observed how the teachers engaged. This would sometimes mean i would be sat with the children viewing how they learned and interacted in their lessons.

Communication - I would spend time with small groups of the children either helping with worksheets or arts and crafts, where we would have conversations as a group or individually. This meant that it was easier to help them with tasks during the week, such as reading.

• Assisted in lesson preparation for smoother class operations.
• Delivered one-to-one support to students, improved focus on tasks.
• Created positive classroom atmosphere by encouraging open communication and support.
• Supervised students during recess and lunch breaks.
• Maintained child safety, security and good behaviour during classroom and outdoor activities.

• Maintained ready supply of counter-top snacks for guests.
• Coordinated daily replenishment and stock resets to maintain organised, tidy bar space.
• Followed food safety and hygiene requirements to protect guests.
• Set up bar area daily with clean furniture, supplies and beverage stock for typical bar demands.
• Input orders into register, calculated bills and collected payments.
• Welcomed guests with friendly conversation and fun atmosphere.
• Created an inviting atmosphere through friendly interaction with customers.
• Collaborated with team members to provide seamless service during busy periods.
• Adapted quickly to different situations maintaining efficiency even under pressure.
• Managed stock levels efficiently, preventing shortage during peak hours.
