Volunteering

  • 09/23, Joined Dr Ben Ciotti and PHD student Rachel Turnbull on fish sampling expeditions across estuaries in Devon and Cornwall. The data we collected contributes to ongoing research and monitoring of juvenile fish habitats and aids in identifying key conservation areas.

  • 06/23, Volunteered with MRes student Caitlin Cox to assist her with her Master's research. We carried out quadrat sampling and image analysis to determine the biodiversity found in different man-made bio-blocks placed in Newlyn, Cornwall.

  • 03/23, Volunteered with the National Marine Park for the Big Seaweed search. We identified and recorded the distribution of the different types of seaweed found in the UK and looked out for invasive species so we can take action to protect our coastlines.

  • As a volunteer for the SU Buddy Scheme, I helped fellow students integrate into university life by facilitating friendships and providing peer-to-peer support.
