I spent a week working with the retail team at the Pets at Home store in Macclesfield as part of my work experience while at school. I really enjoyed helping customers, learning about the pets and working as part of the team. I learnt lots of new skills and enjoyed getting to know the different colleagues in the store and feeling like I was helping out. I did not mind what tasks I was given but it was nice to see tangible results for my efforts - whether it was a tidy shelf, a happy customer or a clean area for the pets. I had very positive feedback and enjoyed the atmosphere of a small team working together, something which I think I would also enjoy working at Costa.
I have been fortunate to have recently taken part in an expedition to Vietnam and Cambodia where I travelled and worked with a team of other volunteers and local people to help build foundations for a local school in Cambodia
I had never spent much time away from my family, but travelled for 3 weeks trekking in the jungle and sleeping in tents and hostels I really enjoyed the challenge, learning new skills and getting to know new skills and to know the other team members I gained a reputation for being positive, keeping up the mood during the challenge and pulling my weight - of which I was really proud I also took responsibility for leading the team for part of the trip, helping to find places for the team to eat within their budget and to navigate to the next meeting points, which I really enjoyed It was the best 3 weeks of my life!
I have previously enjoyed completing challenges for Duke of Edinburgh awards - with walking and canoeing while sleeping outdoors - which I found to be great fun - with a sense of achievement and the opportunity to make new friends and learn new skills I enjoyed the physical challenge and learnt a lot about my own resilience under pressure, which gave me confidence to undertake the expedition
I love to travel, socialise with friends and listening to music. I am very keen to visit Japan and have a strong interest in the Japanese culture. I have attended local drama groups in the area and when I was younger won several awards for Drama, Public Speaking and Music as well as achieving qualifications from LAMDA, and my Grade 4 Music exam.
