I support people with mental health issues such as dementia and Alzheimer's as well as some people with learning difficulties and PSP ( progressive supranuclear palsy) I help to care for people using an emotional-led support approach. My job role requires me to support people and develop a relationship or connection with others to help support them with day-to-day tasks such as:

  • Assisted with personal care activities such as washing and dressing, consistently promoting positive health and hygiene.
  • Led group activity programmed to support independence and encourage community inclusion.
  • Planned, prepared and served meals for a number of residents, strictly following prescribed dietary orders. for example, supporting people with diet-controlled diabetes or insulin-controlled diabetes ensuring they get the right meal.
  • Empowered individuals to pursue hobbies and leisure activities such as shopping and creative activities. by doing this I have supported residents in the community and taken them to places such as the pub for a meal or to the local retail park to buy new clothes or shoes with any spare time I have.
  • Improved health outcomes by delivering consistent care in collaboration with the nursing team.
