Ailish Heneghan

I worked at St George Community Housing as a tenancy manager which involved managing and sustaining tenancies for a portfolio of approximately 200 social and affordable tenancies. This job included many responsibilities from organising and completing home visits with tenants, reporting and following up on maintenance issues, managing rent payments and setting up payment plans where needed, organising referrals for support coordination and signing on new tenants. I was the initial point of contact for all my tenants for any tenancy issues or general concerns they had. I dealt with many anti-social behaviour events, i had dealings with the police, I had first hand experience of a support coordination meetings, I took part in community events the company organised for example garden sessions. Overall this job has allowed me to gain more insight into how i can better my communicative skills, how i can use my skills for the better and help make a positive impact where needed. This role came with its challenges however it was very rewarding and allowed me to develop existing skills while also expanding my knowledge on further ways i can communicate with different people, how i can deal with challenging situations such as anti-social behaviour and also how i can be an reliable point of contact for a position that requires providing support for others.

I spent 4 months travelling the East Coast of Australia and Bali Indonesia.

I worked as a property manager in a professional and student lettings company straight after University. I managed several properties around the Greater Manchester area. I was the head of maintenance, organising all maintenance reports and allocating them to the relevant contractors. I managed all property enquiries from current tenants and new tenants enquiring about properties on the market. I also organised and oversaw the marketing and social media for the company, organising informative and interactive posts and advertisements for new and existing tenants. This job required good communication and organisation and helped me to improve my confidence with dealing with new people on a daily basis.

I started working as part of the Manchester united foundation in August 2019 and I have worked every season since. My role in the charity is to sell lottery tickets to people within the stadium to win a signed shirt. All the money raised is invested into helping underprivileged children in Manchester. This job has gave me the opportunity to interact with loads of new people. I go around the boxes and suites every game speaking to different people each match. I have really improved on my social skills while working at Manchester United and I have become very confident in speaking to new people.

I worked as part of a team in TK Maxx, serving customers on tills and also managing a department on my own, making sure that everything was in the correct order and the maintenance was kept up throughout the day. I interacted with many customers a day improving my social skills and also improving my ability to quickly problem solve when customers had an issue.

I worked at DMK property lettings over the summer in 2019, 2020, 2021 and again in 2022. I oversaw the maintenance requirements for the student property houses, taking phone calls in the office, managing the emails, helping tenants that came into the office with any concerns they had and showing people around properties they were looking to rent. This job really helped me with my social skills as I was constantly interacting with people of all ages and it also helped my time management skills with doing the viewings, I had to be there for a set time and complete each viewing in the time allocated.

Working for Rooms4u included property inspections, managing keys, checking for maintenance in the properties and conducting viewings. This job allowed me to work closely with individuals to find their next student home and also work closely with contractors to organize work to be completed. This therefore improved my communication skills and gave me the confidence to lead people.

Bartending and silver service waitering. This job involved speaking to new customers every shift, it improved my confidence with new people.

I worked as the front desk assistant every Saturday at Philip James Kennedy Estate Agents, booking viewings and accompanying a few viewings. I had the responsibility of securing houses for people and finding the right location for them, as well as advising them on the best financial way to approach purchasing a house, including setting individuals up with both mortgage and solicitor appointments. From this job I learnt how to communicate well with new people and how to deal with new situations that I hadn't come across. It taught me many social skills as I was constantly interacting with people coming into the office or people on the phone

I worked as a Saturday girl within the salon, interacting with customers,making drinks, washing hair, and cleaning the salon. This job really improved my social skills, making me more confident as I was meeting new people every Saturday.
