- My job at Halfords required me to be extremely knowledgeable about all products and their specifications. By extension I also had to use my knowledge of vehicle mechanics to complete tasks such as quick-fit jobs (bulbs, wiper blade, batteries, etc.) and to give the customer the best possible advice on certain items such as battery chargers, oils, additives and auto-tech like dash cams and stereos. I’ve progressed a great deal working with Halfords and its made me even more dedicated to working hands on with vehicles and either repairing, refitting or upgrading them. It’s given me the opportunities to put my education to use and expand on it giving me the confidence to work on a vehicle in a professional business environment and how to communicate to customers before, during and after working on their vehicle. Additionally, my requirement to be more independent is much higher than it was at Heron Foods as now there is a significantly higher demand for targets and a multitude of different scenarios I have to deal with on a regular basis. For example, dealing with a confrontational customer, warranty procedures, store pilferage and the afore-mentioned advice and salesmanship I often have to give to customers.

The job was more of the same however I had to be significantly more independent and was given more freedom in how to deal with customers as the team was very small and usually busy with their own tasks.
