Medpal ltd is an automated pharmacy which provides NHS prescriptions to care homes across the country. The pharmacy also has a manual dispensary which I was part of. My role was extremely varied and consisted of:
Working in a pharmacy environment I was able to work closely with and support the pharmacist, making sure my work was produced to the highest standard with minimal errors. I developed strong relationships with all members of staff and departments, pro actively identifying areas of need and assisting where necessary. I worked competently with structure, identifying which prescriptions were higher priority and the work I needed to focus on. Throughout my time working in a pharmacy, I have been able to develop an effective sense of communication. The use of communication in this line of work is vital for patients’ safety and reducing the chance of any errors within the workplace. This has been demonstrated in my work when communicating with customer service to resolve any queries with prescriptions and helping to find a solution with any problems. I have also used my communication skills successfully when helping to train new staff in areas of the manual dispensary
During my time at Royal Mail I was responsible for organising my workload so I could deliver letters and parcels in the most effective way. Working off my own initiative was a key part to carrying out this role and I was able to structure my day independently. I developed good relationships with colleagues and customers. I was able to answer customer queries, such as redirected mail or incorrect addresses, providing an excellent public-facing service. Throughout my time at Royal Mail I maintained strict confidentiality and security protocols for sensitive mail and official documents. Working as a postal worker takes stamina and commitment, I believe I displayed both at all times. I was efficient in using handheld digital devices to scan, track, and secure signatures for special deliveries.
When I joined Halton Haven Hospice I was part of the fundraising team. I supported events and helped promote other avenues of fundraising. I worked alongside the hospices canvassers who attracted new lottery players, I would input customers details and their donation information alongside direct debit instructions.
I was given the opportunity to manage one of the Hospices shops where I was responsible for manging volunteers and other members of staff. I rotated stock on a daily and weekly basis, attracting existing and new customers. I manged payment systems, cashflow and banking.
Working as a care assistant I supported service users with all aspects of personal care whilst promoting independence. I was able to promote and encourage individuals to be a part of local communities and support them with their choices. I would assist with meal times and medication, ensuring patient safety at all times. I kept all paperwork and care plans up to date and accurate, recording any views from the service user and also any problems that may have occurred.
