  • Supported families of patients and helped them feel more welcome in the hospital making sure they had all the information they required.
  • Adapted to changing circumstances and maintained positive attitude in challenging situations, even when the hospital environment was still particularly new to me.
  • Warmly greeted patients and delivered outstanding service, making them feel more comfortable in their unfortunate circumstances in the hospital.
  • Built strong relationships with nurses of different wards and other medical students, as well as a few regular patients.
  • Cleaned up spaces after patient breakfast/lunch/dinner, collecting trays, helping to wash up in the kitchen, and sanitising all the required areas to maintain a clean, hospital-safe environment.

  • Elderly support experience- I helped the elderly patients in the hospital by being there if they needed to talk to someone, or if they required something
  • Non-Judgemental attitude- I opened my eyes to the different situations that people experienced in the hospital
  • Empathy and compassion- I treated everybody with the same amount of respect and kindness, knowing they have all gone through different things and are still human beings

  • Communication skills- I met numerous different people at the hospital, from patients to visitors to nurses to doctors, and developed stronger communication skills as I was talking to them each shift
  • Attention to Detail- I paid careful attention to patient preferences and made sure to notify a staff member if there had been an unusual change to something that had not normally been at the ward I was working in
  • Quality Assurance- If a patient wanted something, I made sure to give it them to the highest quality at the best of my ability, being careful to not make mistakes
