I am a Computer Networking graduate from the University of Central Lancashire with an upper Two-one Degree in computer networking. I worked as both a deployment engineer and Team Lead for the Belfast Trust, working on the ground within their hospitals to provide IT assistance and upgrades as an engineer and then, in a leadership role liaising with the Trust to utilise the team under myself in the completion of a large project.
I am confident in all the aspects of IT with an emphasis on the deployment of large scale rollouts of both hardware and software. As well as the team management behind it.
I gained even more insight to this when I began to work for the Trust directly as a Senior IT Analyst on the ground to support the Encompass project rollout.
I currently work as the IT manager for the Ulster laboratory in the South Eastern Trust, a role that has allowed me to develop a variety of skills including the use and understanding of complex programs and clinical machinery. My work involves a huge amount of communication, be it between the clinical staff within labs and the technical staff in our IT teams, or 3rd party companies and the management team. I work closely on large projects dealing with complex technologies, including sample analysers and clinical workflow systems.
I am a personable team player who will offer advanced technical knowledge and a can-do attitude. I can work both independently and as part of a team and possess self-motivation, excellent time management skills and and management experience of a team of ten engineers. I am a personable worker and pride myself in my peoples skills. I would welcome the opportunity to forge a career with a company that will allow me to develop my skills to a higher level.
I currently work as the IT Manager for the Ulster Laboratory in the South Eastern Trust, I care for the ICT aspects of the lab including a variety of critical hardware and software systems, analysers and devices. I also facilitate communication, reporting and organisation of 3rd party providers in essential maintenance, installations and troubleshooting within labs.
As IT manager I am also responsible for reporting and assembling data for all work done within labs, this can include reports on anything from test numbers to fault rates and are often requested by doctors in specific patient cases.
I take an active part and responsibility during any project within the lab, helping to build mandates, assemble information and communicate effectively between lab management staff, 3rd party providers and the local SE Trust ICT teams. I have gained invaluable experience with projects, timekeeping and the organisation of large amounts of moving parts.
This has added to my previous experience of running a large team during the Encompass project within the Belfast Trust. My work involves the use of the following software: MS Office suite where I use my extensive knowledge of excel often for a variety of tasks involving data entry. Also use Teams frequently to converse with my colleagues in labs and my contacts in IT.
I also frequently use it for hosting business meetings with 3rd party suppliers, as well as Trust specific video conferences. I use the reporting tool “Pathmanager” to assemble large reports that use information collected within labs, these reports can often be very extensive and complex, including data from hundreds of patients being assembled.
I have also gained first hand experience with LIMS while working within labs, furthering my understanding of complex medical systems and interfaces I had gained from my previous work with the Belfast Trust.
