  • Responsible for organising and directing Portering and Security staff on shift ensuring that the internal transfers of patients between wards and departments, are carried out at all times.
  • Removing deceased patients from wards to the mortuary in a timely, courteous and respectful manner.

  • Responsible for maintaining high profile security patrols of the hospital and grounds. Protect people and property, detecting and preventing crime including operating and controlling an access control, CCTV, and key control systems.
  • Attend meetings with senior staff/ managers.
  • To assist both members of the public and staff against violence and aggression incidents that occur on the hospital premises, and to liaise with the Police and ensure that all incidents are documented.
  • A detailed knowledge of the e-roster system. Allocating staff annual leave, compassionate leave, and all other types of leave. The finalisation of shifts, sickness and leave. Allocation on e-roster system of shifts for both temporary staff and substantive staff. Contacting of temporary staff to fulfil shifts at short notice.
  • Managing sickness by giving staff return to work and or pre stage sickness meetings.
  • To ensure that the hospital is made secure, by the locking of all appropriate doors and windows during the silent hours and to ensure these doors are unlocked as required, in accordance with the established procedure.
  • Accompany staff in the transit of monies through the Trust as required.
  • To act as the Responsible Officer for the hospital in the event of the fire alarm being raised until the Fire Service arrive. Assist in the co-ordination for the evacuation of patients and the public in the event of a major fire.
  • To be responsible for ensuring roads are closed when notified of a helicopter landing, in accordance with the established procedure.
  • To assist site with out of hours management issues and in resolving problems.
  • To report problems relating to service failure or maintenance requirements and resolve issues, if appropriate, at the request of the on-call engineer.
  • Receive deceased patients at the mortuary out of hours in a dignified manner.
  • Allocated a number of staff and will be required to carry out their PDP appraisals. Responsible for the management of these staff and develop them appropriately. Making sure new staff have been signed off and are competent before they are allowed to start. Uniforms and shoe vouchers are issued. Help with any additional training requirements.
