Administered medications through injections, oral, nasal, and topical routes.
Worked with the vet to discuss clinical cases and treatment options.
I managed oversight of all animal diets, implementing necessary adjustments.
Worked, both within a team and individually, to create enrichment for animals that stimulated natural behaviours and reduced stress levels.
Worked with a colleague to produce collection plans and breeding programmes.
Delivered engaging talks and encounters, providing an informative experience for visitors.
Trained new staff members on standard operating procedures.
Cleaned out animal living spaces to meet strict hygiene standards.
Health checked and measured animals monthly to monitor changes in weight and body condition.
Updated animal records in line with established procedure.
Groomed domestic animals to keep them looking presentable.
Managed quarantine procedure for new arrivals and sick animals, ensuring minimal risk of disease spread within the zoo population.
Witnessed hundreds of births over the last 3 years and assisted with many. I'd also conduct checks on labouring animals throughout the night and take lambs home to care for when needed.
Stepped in to help with a lot of other jobs outside of my "role" when needed, on all areas of the business. For example, covering the tills or working at events held there.
