Work Experience

North Nibley Primary School
07.2024 - 07.2024

A week's work experience at North Nibley primary school. Each morning, I helped a group of 9 Year 3 students do their Maths. I had to read the problems to the children and explain the techniques need to solve them. I also helped the students with creating a poem about a naughty child and how they could tell the teacher what the naughty kid had done. I also led the year 5 and 6’s PE lesson, teaching them the rules of rounders. One morning I made smoothies with the whole class using recipes they had created. Three of the afternoons I helped with the KS2 summer play, holding up instructions, giving cues and making sure the children were in the right places at the right times with the right costumes.

I have been a volunteer at 1st Dursley Beaver scout group for the past 18 months and prior to this I volunteered for a year with 1st Dursley Squirrel scouts (aged 4 and 5). I helped run activities for the children and organised a games night.

Been a member of Dursley Army Cadets since September 2021. I’m currently a Lance Corporal which means I teach the new cadets first aid, organisation, caring for their kit, fieldcraft and drill. I have been on a number of summer camps where I have also done shooting, fieldcraft, expedition, navigation and adventure training. I also complete my training for the Ten Tors, but unfortunately, we were unable to attend the final event. I played for Gloucester ACF in the Regional football competition and was scouted to represent the South West region at the National finals in Altcar Training Camp. also attended a week long STEM camp on Salisbury Plain with the army. I experienced all section of the army including cyber security, vehicle maintenance and communications. My favourite part of this week was definitely driving a tank.

I have recently completed my Silver DofE with the army cadets having done Bronze in Year 9. For my expedition, I did 3 days (2 nights) walking across Dartmoor with cadets from both Gloucestershire and Devon ACF in an intense thunderstorm. We were soaked from the first day onwards but we finished the expedition and only got slightly lost.

I have played Hockey for Wotton under Edge hockey team since I was 9 years old. I’m currently playing for the Ladies 3rd team. I also play Hockey for the school and I recently came 2nd in the South West Tier 2 school hockey championship.

In Year 9, I completed my sports leaders course. I helped run sports days for a number of local primary school and also run events for primary schools at my school. While at school, I have also represented the school in rounders, athletics, cricket and netball. Last summer I went to the county athletics at the Prince of Wales stadium in Cheltenham.
