I work 4 days a week delivering assessment and therapy in primary, secondary and further education settings. I currently work with children, teenagers and young adults.

Training Courses Completed:

Language for Behaviour and Emotions 2 Day course, delivered by Stephen Parsons and Melanie Cross.

Clinical Management of Childhood Apraxia of Speech.

Nuffield Dyspraxia Programme (NDP3), Modules 2-4.

Neuro Linguistic Programming one day workshop, Michael Palin Centre for Stammering.

I was responsible for approaching and maintaining relationships with businesses on behalf of the charity to raise vital funds for our work with older people in the local community.

Working in various primary schools and one secondary school in and around Hull to deliver speech and language assessments and therapy.

In this role my focus was predominantly assessment of language and speech sound delays/disorders although I did also do some therapy. I worked with several young people on the Autistic Spectrum and with SEMH, which is an area I was very interested in pursuing further.

Training course completed: 'How to Assess the Language and Communication Needs of Young People with SEMH' Presented by Melanie Cross.

Split post working 2 days a week in the early supported discharge service for stroke patients and 3 days at Leicester Royal infirmary on the medical wards. I left this role to pursue Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy.

Working full time in a specialist school for children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Although I enjoyed this role I did not agree with the applied behavioural analysis principles the school used, hence the short period of time there.

Style advisor/ sales assistant working with competitive targets.

Supporting children with additional needs (such as dyslexia) in a classroom environment.

Sales role working with competitive targets on the shop floor & maintaining company standards.

Looking after two school aged children on a sole charge basis.
