- During my time on work experience at the ESO I was predominantly part of the ENCC Future design team, as well as spending time with other departments within the business. Some of the activities I partook in included: assisting in planning and presentation of meetings around the changes coming to the control room and the impact that would have on the engineers in the control room, project bidding processes with external vendors, constraint management and outage planning for use in real time operations, and spent a shift in the ENCC control room with the energy team who balance the 400kv GB power network in real time to ensure the frequency of the network remains at 50hz.
- I feel this placement gave me a strong understanding of electrical engineering as well as developed my presentation and punctuality skills and how to act in a professional environment. I did this over a one week period.
- Oversaw installation, testing and commissioning of engineering systems to meet performance and safety requirements.
