Additional Information

  • After college I started an apprenticeship in software engineering for KPMG. In my two years with the company I became familiar with programming languages as well as databases and structures. I have worked with the front and back end of projects and have practised testing these projects. Alongside this job, I also studied for a software engineering degree at Manchester Metropolitan University. I gained knowledge in the business aspect of companies as well as working with data and finances. I completed my assignments in java and am also very familiar with python. I have worked with sql databases, react and have a good understanding of GitHub. Studying this has allowed me to gain an insight into any program and in understanding them and to apply my own knowledge and skillset to complete the required task. I soon came to the realisation that this career path wasn't best suited to me and my interests and therefore have taken the time to acknowledge the job role I would like to pursue is not technologically focused, but more financial and analytical. As a high achieving student, throughout secondary school I tutored students of lower ability in Maths and Computer Science to help them pass their GCSE's. To prepare myself, I shadowed teachers which enhanced my leadership skills and was motivated to aid others in achieving their best potential as well as striving to reach my own goals. As I had my own GCSE's to complete, my time management and organisational skills were put to the test and it is evident through my results that I performed successfully. After leaving high school I had a part time job at Marks and Spencers, where I worked in retail and hospitality for three years organising sections and serving customers efficiently. Thus providing myself with the experience to carry out a variety of tasks required in different roles. I know how to take the lead within a group setting and have the ability to work well within a team and adapt to any environment.
