As I was considering going into film when I finish education, amongst other potential ambitions, I spent my Year 11 work experience at The Agency. A company of agents representing writers, directors, and creatives working across film, television and theatre. Here I saw the behind the scenes of what begins a piece of media. I was able to see scripts of unreleased shows. Working in this environment had me surrounded by like- minded individuals who shared my interest in film and media and encouraged my interest in taking on a career in film. I learnt to adapt to being in new environments and meeting new people. This is something exciting me about going into new work places, and meeting new people from different backgrounds to me.

  • Communication skills - Having worked in group settings on countless occasions, I have learnt the importance of communication and seen the efficiency and quality of work when implementing clear communication with my peers In a work place I am able to communicate with those around me and ask questions when I am unsure; using my voice to ensure my work is done to a high standard
  • Writing - Being predicted a grade 7 and 8 in GCSE English Language and Literature, I am a strong writer Throughout my English GCSE course, a subject in which I express a high level of interest and curiosity, I've been able to ask questions and challenge different perspectives when analysing text and then through my writing I hope to continue my interest of English as I go onto studying it for A-levels
  • Leadership - When taking on leader-like roles, as I have had to in the past, I am able to build relationships on the foundation of mutual respect and support where myself and my peers are able to work together and help one another out I am able to clearly and concisely communicate with those around me, encouraging my peers and achieving results Not only does this mean I'm able to vocalise my thoughts and ideas but am able to listen to the ideas of my teammates, creating a comfortable working environment where everyone's ideas are heard therefore optimising hardwork and time
  • Strategic planning - As part of my Textiles GCSE , i was expected to make a pillowcase from scratch in two days After having completed this to a very high standard, I realised the importance of planning out my time and every aspect that would go in to making my piece This is what helped me to complete the task within the required time and to a standard that pleased me
  • Creativity / Innovation - My creativity has been showed both through my writing and crafts As a textiles student, I've had to be imaginative to create unique and thoughtful pieces that evoke conversations, and I've had to be creative in the way that I understand and adapt the themes to be personal to me Through my writing, especially analysis as a GCSE English student, I had to be creative in the way i understood and interpreted text, therefore understanding it in multiple perspectives

Affiliations

  • Outside of the Education, I am still a very creative individual. I spend alot of time making art, and experimenting with different mediums, seeing the way in which texture and style can differ when using certain pencil, oil paint, pastels etc.
  • I love all different types of film. Whether that be tv shows, movies and even theatre.
  • I enjoy exploring different sorts of sporty hobbies. I always take a postive approach to new experiences and this is how I've been able to ice skate, rollerblade, rock climb.
