Zac Thompson

I joined Waitrose to gain knowledge and experience within a customer service facing role, with hopes to develop this to lead a team.

I am now in an acting Team Manager role and have adapted my team to work in an efficient way, to ensure we complete all required tasks

• I currently work as an engineer on the railway, this involves working as part of a very large team. We have tasks on a daily basis which must be completed within a certain time frame, in order to get this done the communication skills must be up to a high standard and working well as a team is a must for everyone's safety. In my current role I have to ensure the safety standards of the railway are up to date and all follow the current rules in place.

• During my time at Royal Mail I was in charge of multiple rounds within the day, I had the responsibility of driving one of the vans to a certain location to deliver letters and parcels in a timely matter. My organisational skills had to be up to standard as I would plan my deliveries for the day. Occasionally I would work with a team member or on my own, working with a colleague meant we had to plan the day together and stick to a time frame in order to complete our work.

• I worked as as a packer for a year and then received a promotion to become a baker within the store. In this role I had to ensure all produces were made and baked ready for a deadline to be put out for sale everyday. This was a team role in which communication was essential in order to make sure everything was ready on time and done in an efficient manner. This role also required me to help and assist customers on a daily basis and was on hand to meet their requirements if any help was needed. Also with this role we had to ensure cleaning and hygiene protocols were met regularly to ensure a clean and safe environment for the team and customers.

• I was employed as a delivery driver but I also had to open up the two shops they owned and secure the alarms. As well as that I would prepare the shops for opening and gather all supplies for the store.

• I was employed to look after the plants and care for them, I had to deal with customers and their enquiries. In addition I had to deal with deliveries and unloading all the stock for the centre to be prepared to be displayed for sale.
