Work history

Assistant Environmental Consultant

M Group Limited
2025.09 - Current

I have worked for M Group Limited within the Transport team, primarily working in Roadwork infrastructure. One of the key skills I have picked up is project urgency, ensuring that working across multiple projects for multiple clients does not influence the timescale of delivery, nor the quality of the service that I am providing. Another element that I have gained whilst working is Business communication, being able to speak with our clients as well as internally in our team enabled me to gain insight to project's scope of works, and provide me with the knowledge that could promote carbon saving opportunities. That business communication was also relevant across my collaborative work. As a graduate stepping into this job, I was able to work alongside designers, engineers and environmental specialists, helping me gain the understanding of utilising different perspectives, and helping to address diverse issues.

  • Created approximately 30 carbon assessments across different projects (Bridges, Road Surfacing, Airport runway resurfacing etc.) and providing carbon saving techniques and materials
  • Completed approximately 15 design environment assessments, liaising with stakeholders to gain insight and to provide all environment actions that are required to ensure environmental safety
  • Completed over 200 environmental constraint checklists, providing initial analysis on all types of schemes (Road Surfacing, Drainage, Active Travel etc.)
  • Produced 2 business cases for alternative energy sources and innovative machinery for our clients

Intern

Milestone Infrastructure
2024.08 - 2024.08

I spent 2 weeks as an intern at Milestone Infrastructure, a sustainability focussed roadwork company. I was exposed to innovative techniques, and provided with how sustainable analysis occurs, factoring Social, Economic and Environmental factors into recommending certain low carbon features to schemes. I was able to take part in business operations and administration, being able to write meeting notes to send round follow up emails, enabling me to see how an 1820 employee strong business functions. Going on site to see the evolution of projects, and being able to create solutions to unforeseen challenges.

  • Analysed over 100 new initiatives and current maintenance schemes to see what is possible on current schemes
  • Researching over 50 innovative techniques nationally and internationally that could become trends within the Roadwork industry

Customer Assistant

Sainsbury's
2021.11 - 2022.01

I spent a 2 and a half months working with Sainsbury's, where I was exposed to customer service and providing consistent support for anyone who came in. Working on the tills enabled me to expand my professional social skills, interacting with customers whilst ensuring I maintained a smooth check out process for customers. I was given several positive reviews from customers over these few months. Some of the key takeaways I have from my time at Sainsbury's would be:

  • Versatility - Being aware of depleted stock or a low number of cashiers for a heavy influx of customers, I was shown how to be able to adapt
  • Customer Service - Ensuring I maintained friendly interaction with customers, to help create a welcoming atmosphere

Kitchen porter

Lussmann's
2021.10 - 2021.11

I worked as a Kitchen Porter for a local restaurant, which allowed me to understand the importance of consistency throughout my job. Working in a kitchen showed me the value of authority. Likewise, I also learnt the importance of:

  • High standards - Delivering a consistent chain of professionally serviced items, that would be ensured to meet the requirements of a high end, award winning restaurant
  • Resilience - The restaurant exposed me to high pressure environment, which made it clear that I needed to have a thorough understanding of what was required.
