Summary

Designing delivering drone landing safety mechanism


  • I designed a suction cup and vacuum generator system that the delivery package will secure to.
  • I designed a mechanism within the van that uses compressed air to secure the package.
  • I developed a winch that can lift the suction cup mechanism.
  • Conducted a CAD analysis on each relevant parts.


Battery-Electric Car Conversion


  • Rather than designing a brand-new efficient car, our team has identified a unique and innovative solution. Me along with my team planned to take existing cars, remove the engine, and replace it with a more efficient powertrain.
  • A Pugh matrix was used to compare alternative powertrains using the existing ICE as a datum., battery-electric came out the clear winner.
  • Various criteria were used in our assessment, each of which was assigned an importance weighting. High importance was given to the efficiency-based criteria, as this was the title of our challenge.
  • We also identified the consumer as one of our major stakeholders. As such, consumer-focused criteria such as costs were also weighted highly
