Product design intern
I interned in Hangzhou Weima Industrial Design Co., Ltd. The project I was most impressed by was a racing car painting design. In this design, my analytical and problem-solving skills were greatly improved. In the beginning, we collected all existing race car designs and categorized them by brand, era and style. We extracted the most representative elements such as flame pattern, streamline, and technological elements. Afterwards, we analyzed how to show the uniqueness of the race car through the design including curves and colors, based on the customer team’s preference. When discussing the first design proposal, we had a disagreement. They preferred rich details, while our team adopted more of an overall block design forming. Therefore, I started to lead the team to analyze the brand positioning and cultural history of the client, and finally proposed the concept of “gravity” with my strong creative thinking to modify the sense of speed and express the cultural connotation. In the process, I realized that visual art needs to consider culture and background in addition to aesthetics. The meaning of art is more people-oriented and immersed in stories and culture.
