Key achievement

Successful evaluation of the new diagnostic kit for the simultaneous detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and multidrug resistant patterns in stored and newly collected sputum sample using molecular and cultural methods.

• Authored sops and other validation protocols for various units of the laboratory
• Co-ordinates and executes quality assurance activity for Testing procedures
• Collect Pap smear and undertake diagnostic processing of the samples (Cytology Staining)
• Carry out HPV molecular testing using Roche Molecular systems (Cobas 4800)
• Manages PoCT service across the hospital for TB, HIV, PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen), Hepatitis
• Prepare external quality assurance results from EQA providers for TB and HIV
• Evaluate EQA performance for TB and HIV Testing for continuous improvement projects
• Perform Immunoassay procedures and ELISA for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Cytomegalo Virus (CMV), HPV, ZIKA Virus, Chikungunya Virus, Lassa Virus, etc
• Facilitates training of laboratory personnel in using molecular assay (GeneXpert and Line Probe Assay) for TB diagnosis and ELISA

• Perform routine and specialist investigations on a range of all laboratory specimen
• Rotate through all sections of the laboratory reading, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting results covering Specimen reception, Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, Virology, Cytology/Histology, and Immunology
• Plan and implement meetings and training sessions to laboratory staffs and other health care professionals
• Maintain quality results by running standards and monitoring control measures daily on all analytes eliminate false positive or negative results.

• Developed a comprehensive SOP for Molecular diagnosis of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis in Nigeria with a team of Biomedical Scientist, which increased TB detection and active case finding across the Country by 90%.
• Served as focal person (Toll Free Number) for TB counseling and diagnosing centre queries and support

• Responsible for supervising and reviewing HIV Testing activities at the facility
• Assist in the preparation of internal quality control test panels for HIV testing
• Participate in External HIV Panel Testing
• Perform GeneXpert assay and Line probe assay for TB diagnosis
• Evaluate Quality assurance for TB and HIV assays and review results
• Performs Microbiological assay for STIs diagnosis
• Execute and supervise validation and verification exercises to ensure that laboratory equipment (Engineering controls meets the laboratory’s needs and ISO15189: 2012 standards
