Studied nursing whilst working in Manor Hospital as HCA. My manager encouraged me at the time after seeing my capability and passion and I enrolled at Brookes in 2016 I have developed my skills and knowledge, also l has learnt new ways of thinking and reasoning. I learnt to work cooperatively with all the teams to provide a comfortable experience to patients. I started my career at Oxford college 09/2014. Neurosciences has offered me a lot of opportunities to learn, to develop, to improve and to build up my career. I have been undertaking study days like, Preceptorship course, Tracheostomy championing and other study days within the clinical field of practice. I consider myself as a positive person with a good sense of humour and friendly attitude. I am a good team player, and love to promote teamwork. I am a very active person. Roles And Responsibilities
- Prioritising patients first as priority.
- Assessing and planning nursing care for the patient. Most of the patients have complex needs and long-term conditions or maybe very acutely unwell. These include patients with head injuries, sleep disorders, tracheostomies, and airway problems and at times need suctioning
- Lead in care delivery and management of patients.
- Practicing and acting according to the trust policy and NMC Guidelines (2018) Standard of care.
- Providing pre- and post -operative care and organised workloads.
- Monitoring and administering specific prescribed oral and intravenous infusions.
- Using a syringe pumps and infusion devices appropriately
- Looking after patients with PEG feeds, urethral and suprapubic catheters and monitoring intake and output.
- Providing emotional support to patients and relatives
- Checking and recording vital signs ie blood pressure, pulse, respirations, oxygen levels and weight.
- Measurement and monitoring urine samples on EPR and reporting any concerns
- Referring patients to specialist nurse when is necessary and alerting Drs of any observed concerns.
- Maintaining and providing good verbal and written communication skills to promote healthy lifestyle among my patients through health promotion reviews. I use my verbal communication skills to communicate both with team members, most especially my patients.
