Academic Projects

3D-Printed Lens Antenna for Gain Enhancement in mmWave and THz (2025)

  • Designed a hemispherical lens antenna optimised for 220–330 GHz (WR3 band) using CST Microwave Studio, inspired by cavity-backed and conical horn geometries commonly used in THz antenna design
  • Optimised lens geometry for realised gain and beam focusing; analysed dielectric properties (εr, tanδ) of 3D printing materials (photopolymer resin, ABS, PLA)to minimise loss.

Doppler Radar System Design (2024)

  • Designed a Doppler radar system with an adjustable target using AWR Microwave Office, and compared simulation results for object speed and distance with hand calculations.
  • Tested RF components (VCO,Attenuator,LNA,Mixer) using an oscilloscope and vector network analyser.
  • Built the Doppler Radar System hardware, calculating target speed from the measured received frequency.

Supervisor: Dr.Nutapong Somjit

5G Superheterodyne Receiver Simulation (2023)

  • Designed a matching network for a 28 GHz LNA using quarter-wave transformers and lumped components; simulated its performance in QUCS Studio.
  • Analysed a microstrip image filter around 28 GHz. Designed a third-order Butterworth IF filter at 1 GHz using lumped components and replaced it with practical S-parameters from Murata to study parasitics
  • Estimated the receiver’s system-level noise figure, assuming an ideal mixer for theoretical validation.

Supervisor: Prof.Ian Robertson

Other Embedded Systems Projects

  • Designed and implemented digital systems on FPGA (Stopwatch System, Tetris Game) using Verilog
  • Developed a multi-functional calculator on ARM Cortex-M microcontroller (Keil IDE, C), including keypad interfacing and advanced calculation algorithms.
