Motivated Coach who has a passion for strength training and a desire to continually become better in my field, whether through academic knowledge, practical application or external or internal feedback. I hope to develop my knowledge around rehabilitation to be applied as a Powerlifting coach, due to a lack of adequate knowledge within the wider powerlifting community combined with the relatively high injury rate within the amateur and professional sport.
As a Coach at SC Vital Fitness, it is my role to deliver coaching to the highest standard in a personalised way, within a group training environment. Following the gyms long term progressive plan as a guide, but making on the fly coaching decisions based on client injuries, movement qualities, goals and experiences, whilst also implementing basic corrective exercise where deemed necessary. Since I started working at the gym, I have delivered staff training on 'Aerobic and Plyometric Training' (and how these can be used within the gym), as well as a member education seminar 'Strength Training For Over 35s'.
On top of this, building rapport with 'assigned members' is vital in my ability to coach them to long term success, and I have thoroughly enjoyed being a positive influence on their long term development, in areas of fitness pertaining to strength and endurance, as well as achieving body composition goals.
As a personal trainer in PureGym, I was responsible for running basic strength and cardio classes based around a simple circuit format, whilst marketing and maintaining my self-employed Personal Training business. I enjoyed these sessions as an opportunity to get to know more members of the gym and understand the many reasons the general population train, as well as understanding different attitudes towards exercise. As a personal trainer, I used my knowledge of nutrition to guide my mostly body composition based clients to making maintainable lifestyle changes outside of the gym, whilst creating an environment where they felt confident to exercise in the gym.
