Started working as a general worker/beveller on the pipeline. Worked as control box operator latterly after demonstrating the work ethic and willingness to do more precise and technical jobs. This consisted of controlling the movement of the smaller internal pipe lines with a remote control box.
This required utmost attention to detail and safety was paramount. With this I also had to lock the pipes together and using purge bungs and a level ensure that the pipe was accurately aligned before welding was commenced by either the welders of machine welders.
Worked with the Royal Mail as postal delivery worker from Wick all the way through to Dunbeath covering workers on leave or off sick. Sorted and delivered mail thoroughly in both urban and rural postal routes.
As warehouse goods-in manager. I organised the delivery of and subsequent scanning and stacking away of all items that were delivered to Sutherland Brothers warehouse which consisted of thousands of items. I done this using a spreadsheet and a live stock system. I also then worked as HGV delivery driver in which I had complete deliveries all over the highlands and islands.
In my time at Sinclair Windows I worked in the window factory with 3 others ensuring the sound construction of our products. I operated the UPVC crimping machine as well as the cutting saw for manufacture of the window frames in particular. Worked there until the business ceased production of windows.
My first job since leaving school was working along side the feed store manager in W&A Geddes. After demonstrating an understanding and showing proficiency at the job I was trusted to manage the feed store alone whilst the head storeman was on leave. I would take stock of the various products and order in more as required as well and deal with customers in a professional and kind manner.
