While relatively new to the facilities industry I feel I have excelled in the last 18 months taking on new responsibilities such as being the solo trained Mitie employee on site trained to look after the Steam Boilers and fill in the logbook.
Taking ownership of the Effluent plant when the client's employee who runs it is on holiday / not at work. This ownership resulted in the overseeing of a 'once in 10-year event' when 20000kg of Isosweet was diluted into the Influent resulting in Effluent which was 6 times over the threshold of consent to drain. Liaising with the client's waste provider, SHE lead and Facilities manager we were able to remove 14 tankers of influent-contaminated water to ensure we did not breach consent on the Effluent.
I have attended the morning meeting with the client's engineering team relaying any issues we have encountered and discussing any issues the engineering team had overnight with any of the facilities services we manage as well as advising on any upcoming outages due to services/contractor visits.
Having spent the last 18 months building relationships with the client Facilities Manager, SHE lead and head of Engineering I am in a unique position where the client knows and trusts me to relay key information and complete tasks efficiently and to the highest safety standard.
I am thoroughly enjoying the challenges of providing a facilities service and want to continue progressing with my knowledge of the industry and turn it from a 'job' to a career.
