Research

  • Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience MSc Dissertation, For this project I sought to observe if the P3b and frontal N2 Event Related Potentials induced by a manipulated flanker task, correlated with the relevant outputs of the Drift Diffusion Model for Conflict Tasks. The manipulations were a speed accuracy trade off where two blocks participants had to prioritise accuracy and two, they had to priorities speed, and the spacing of the flanker arrows. The data was analysed using a repeated measures ANOVA with Tukey’s post hoc and two linear regressions which identified only the N2 and the Time-to-Peak (τ) of automatic activation were correlated suggesting the N2 peak was higher τ when was lower.
  • Psychology BSc Dissertation, The dissertation project was designed to identify whether the trustworthiness or dominance of a speaker’s facial features influenced participants deception detection biases, their truth and lie bias, towards high stakes lies. For this study I developed an online survey which coupled a face with varying degrees of dominance or trustworthiness with a suspect’s proclamations of innocence followed by questions which asked participants to what degree did they believe the suspect. Using a mixed-ANOVA I was able to identify that the natural truth bias was reduced to a deception bias when faces were untrustworthy and amplified when trustworthy.
  • Reaseheath College Zoo, I was responsible for developing an observational study on captive lemur behavioural responses to foraging and auditory enrichment tools. Creating the enrichment tools, selecting the ethogram and recording the behaviour were all my responsibility. Identified a reduction in captive stress related behaviours as a result of both foraging and auditory enrichment.
