Summary

Early career as a Mechanical Engineer, to then adapting and changing career paths to a gas Engineer, where I have worked over the last two years at Southern Gas Networks where I have picked up qualifications such as MET 4 (install exchange remove & commission diaphragm gas meters) also REGT1 (commissioning of medium pressure regulators for domestic) & ESP MLP + CESP1 (core emergency service provider) which is achieving an ACS qualification and covers things such as..

  • Gas Safety (Installation & Use Regulations 1998.
  • Tightness testing and purging.
  • Gas industry unsafe situations procedure.
  • Scope of operatives work checking and setting regulators.
  • Operation and positioning of emergency isolation and warning labels.
  • Emergency procedures.
  • Pipe-work requirements.
  • Ventilation.
  • Combustion.
  • Chimney standards.
  • Re-lighting of domestic appliances.
  • Carbon monoxide alarms

Which has given me gas safe registration.

I am also registered on the EUSR portal.

Having worked with SGN over the last 2 years I have experience of changing domestic gas meters and valuable customer service skills and qualities from dealing with customers on a day to day basis. Also picking up vital communication skills towards customers and fellow employees which I think is key.

I do realise I will need MOCOPA qualifications and training, but having spoke to your Careers Team, an upskill course is available and I was advised to apply for the potential to be processed as an upskill candidate.
