My career in care goes back to the mid 1990's when i was a care assistant in a small family run residential home whereby i discovered my passion for the care of the elderly and this little job shaped my future.
I have worked in the NHS for almost 29 years and chose to work in older peoples mental health services.
My passion for elderly care has never wavered, i have a strong will to do the right thing and achieve the best outcomes.
I am accomplished Advanced Nurse Practitioner with adaptable care experience and abilities. Organised with excellent time management to meet demands of busy clinical services.
I have strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and aspire others in delivering high quality care.
I believe in empowering staff through education, support and coaching. Good positive relationships are essential for team work, direction and sense of achievement for us all and i have experience of this by being a senior nurse and supporting junior staff.
For the last 18 years i have worked as a community nurse/Advanced Nurse Practitioner supporting residents in residential and nursing homes i thoroughly enjoy this role and receive immense satisfaction for all we can do to enhance the quality of life for our elderly population and to strive to improve services.
I am now seeking a more stable base of my nursing career whereby i can provide management and continuity in an environment most familiar to me and where i can make positive differences every day.
I left my position of a staff nurse in 2008 to work in the community, i provided assessments and care planning for residents living in residential and nursing homes.
The role was to support care homes and signpost to other agencies where needed and to support mental health wellbeing within our MDT.
During my time in this post i was pleased to be part of several audits POMH which looked at antipsychotics and Lithium treatment, i also did 12 month secondment as a practice placement educator and was involved in facilitation of creating student nurse placements.
