Delivery Driver

Papa John's Pizza
Brighton, Brighton and Hove
01.2023 - Current
  • Fostered positive working relationships with customers, when the store is busy, its uncommon for orders to get mixed up with other drivers or missing items from the order. this had taught me the importance of communication and responsibility in the workplace, ensuring I still go back to redeliver the missing items and mitigate errors in the future.
  • Safety is crucial in this role, I understand that I represent the company in and outside of the store, this includes driving responsibly, maintaining national road regulations and having great awareness for other road users. The role comes with great responsibility to ensure i conduct fuel, tyre and overall vehicle and compliance checks before starting my shift, choosing efficient routes ensures i comply and respect the companies fuel allowances as that has to be shared with other drivers.
  • Reducing the customer complaints and increasing customer satisfaction is a major daily objective for the company, This involves me quality checking the food, packaging it and cutting it accordingly to the size, using different cutters depending on allergens and preferences.
  • A surge of orders can unfortunately often result in delays in delivery as drivers are expected to take multiple orders if they are in the same direction and the store is busy, this can come with my duty to handle customer complaints with an honest apology, communication and reassurance towards the customer.
  • Making sure never to rush, cope under heavy pressure and demands and making sure delivery is on time and the food reaches the customer is my daily aim. I maintain a positive mindset before entering the workplace, and had grasped how honesty, team work and communication can allow satisfaction for customers and employees.
  • Overall the role of the job has given me great insight on how a business, especially a franchise operates. I had observed and participated within these operations, such as stock deliveries and levels, organising the merchandise, preparation for upcoming events and public holidays through meetings.

Customer Services Assistant

Appetite4Work
Brighton, Brighton and Hove
01.2022 - 10.2022

  • I had worked with this recruitment agency whilst studying my second year at the University Of Sussex. I had mostly conducted these shifts at the Amex Football Stadium, the home ground for the Brighton Football Club.
  • The field of work consisted of working behind the kiosk where i worked alongside 8-10 other people, although having multiple kiosks around the stadium, there was a large number of customers before and within the breaks of the match.
  • The role would involve me operating POS systems during peak times accepting card payments and accurately selecting orders.
  • Customers would be greeted expertly to where complaints with the assistance of team members and shift managers, making sure they were satisfied with queries/concerns resolved as quickly as possible.
  • Integrity and trust was also crucial in this role, I was instructed to conduct stock counts of drinks, snacks and hot foods and report them back at the end of the shift. When demand was very high, its not uncommon to run out of stock, therefore I had undertaken the responsibility of collecting more stock from other kiosks or the storage rooms.
  • Working with Appetite4Work has taught me the importance of diversity and equality in the workplace, I gained insights on different cultures, beliefs and morals of team members and customers. Reseller

Self Employed
London, Middlesex
08.2018 - 06.2021

As a self-employed reseller, my personal duties consisted of listing and managing discounted merchandise on selling platforms such as Ebay, Depop and Gumtree.

Starting at the early age of fifteen, it has been and remains to be a significant dedication of mine to explore the power of E-commerce. I began my journey with "Dropshipping," which is a hands-off technique of conducting business electronically. I would routinely scout for newly listed auctions, sharpening my negotiating skills and making sure to clinch a deal with the seller so that they could subsequently send it to a buyer on a different platform. Although this frequently resulted in limited returns, it presented me with an early awareness of a globalised economy as well as the ability of E-commerce in reaching individuals on a broad inter and national scale.

Inevitably, there are scenarios where customers can opt out of a purchase or even return what they bought for a variety of reasons. Nevertheless, this experience broadened my knowledge of financial management and how to comply with consumer laws and merchant regulations.

I then began seeking "fit for all" products such as hats and headwear, primarily from international warehouses in China, reselling the products for a profit on popular selling websites such as Ebay and Depop. commencing with websites such as Aliexpress and Alibaba, I was capable to negotiate "bulk" deals with suppliers, exposing me to a variety of challenges and key skills for the future. I was made aware of language barriers in communications, not to mention taxation laws and fees on imports and shipping costs. I enhanced the accuracy of my understanding of VAT, tariffs, and trade constraints.

Despite the fact that the node of business was not particularly profitable, my interest motivated me to keep proceeding, and I executed this alongside school and a job, using my enthusiasm and aims primarily focused on experimenting, exploration, understanding, and growing my expertise in this area of business. I was able to identify consumerism in terms of trends and demographics, as well as understand seasonal demand and the development of a product life cycle, during this time. I had the advantage of being able to conduct research utilising past listings, competitor pricing and advertising, and third-party data sources such as Google Trends.

Use of excell and spreadsheets to maintin records of sales

During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was difficult to acquire merchandise; yet, this did not prevent me from seeking my interest; I attended car boot sales, where I was able to negotiate pricing of items with sellers and later sell them for a profit; this encompassed purchasing vintage items, clothing, shoes, electronics, and home decor and lighting. Unfortunately, there are times when I could either see great returns or great losses. This educated me on the fundamentals of business and how to comprehend emotions. I began to understand more about shifting the desires of customers as well as building a mindset where I could identify what was at the root of the loss rather than conveying my emotions.
