I chose to pursue engineering because of my strong interest in STEM and my passion for applying knowledge to solve real-world problems. I enjoy using my analytical and problem-solving skills to approach challenges methodically, with a particular enthusiasm for applying mathematics to practical situations. Throughout my studies and placements, I have developed a solid technical foundation and gained hands-on experience that has strengthened both my academic and professional abilities. I am eager to join a forward-thinking company that will allow me to contribute to impactful projects while continuing to develop my technical expertise, broaden my industry knowledge, and hone my mathematical and problem-solving skills.
During the summer of 2022, I worked with Green Cat Renewables as an onsite engineering technician, where I gained practical experience in geotechnical testing and analysis. My role involved conducting in situ tests, including plate load testing, California Bearing Ratio (CBR), and four-point wenner resistivity tests, as well as supporting a range of laboratory investigations. I was invited to return for a second placement following strong performance, further developing my technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills within a professional engineering environment.
During my final year at Edinburgh Napier University, I worked part-time as a Fitness Assistant at the university's gym. This flexible role suited my schedule while studying engineering. My responsibilities included working at reception, setting up equipment for sports such as badminton, and other team activities, and ensuring the gym facilities were prepared and safe for use. It was a rewarding experience to contribute to the university community while completing my studies.
