• Nerve and deep tissue retraction (The SFA can only

move or place retractors under the direct supervision of

the operating surgeon)

• Cutting of deep sutures and ligatures under direct

supervision of the operating surgeon

• Assisting with haemostasis in order to secure and

maintain a clear operating field including indirect

application of surgical diathermy by the surgeon

• Use of suction as guided by the operating surgeon
• Camera manipulation for minimal invasive access surgery
• Application of dressings as required
• Transferring the patient to recovery and make sure patient is comfortable.
• Maintaining patient records and the portfolio for the professional development and giving evidenced based high standard of care.
• Maintaining National Joint Registry.

• Scrubbing for Minor, major and complex cases.
• Planning, managing and organizing smooth running of the theatre on the day
• Maintaining record keeping at all times in line with Hospital Governance Policies.
• Training and supervising multidisciplinary team.
• Make sure theatre environment is clean and ensuring infection control policies are met.
• Maintaining patient safety Pre,Peri and Post operations.
• Implementing and Evaluating skills.
• Good communication skills and maintaining good interpersonal relationship with the multidisciplinary team
