Placement

Sterndale Surgery
09.2024 - 06.2025
  • As a part of my medical degree at Imperial College London, I observed within a GP practice for a year, learnt about primary care, and was able to talk to many patients about their medical history.
  • I also conducted a survey to determine patient satisfaction with the GP surgery amongst many categories, and used a variety of statistical techniques to come to a conclusion.

Placement

Northwick Park Hospital
05.2025 - 05.2025
  • As a part of my medical degree, I was at Northwick Park Hospital for two weeks in the geriatrics ward.
  • Here, I acted as an observer, learning about many different clinical procedures.
  • I was also able to have conversations with patients, utilising the non-verbal communication skills I had picked up at the care home.
  • I found this experience invaluable, as I was able to put aspects of my medical education into practice.

Volunteer

Sanctuary Care Home
08.2022 - 10.2023
  • For a year, I volunteered in a local care home, putting on engaging activities, speaking to the residents, and helping out in the care home.
  • I developed my non-verbal communication skills here, as many of the residents had difficulty hearing, so I had to adapt.

Observer

The Fryent Way Surgery
08.2022 - 08.2022
  • A week's work experience at The Fryent Way Surgery gave me a first hand exposure to some of the realities of a career in medicine.
  • I was able to see for myself how different parts at a GP surgery work cohesively to become more than a sum of its parts.
